Thieving Harrys is one of Hull’s most popular cafe spots for food and coffee. Serving an eclectic mix of food offerings for every mealtime, including plates both big and small. Breakfast offerings vary from house-made granola for the smaller appetites, to Harry’s Breakfast for a truly indulgent morning. Those wanting something a little more substantial for lunch or dinner might go for one of their burgers or sandwiches. With gluten-free, meat, veggie and vegan options available for all dietary requirements.
We set out to try some of Thieving Harry’s brunch offerings, and we were not disappointed. We ended up leaving the cafe satisfied, happy and full. Ready to brace the cold weather fuelled by the cafe’s great selection of hot (importantly caffeinated for a morning) drinks.
PLANT PATTY, PORTOBELLO MUSHROOM, GRILLED TOMATO, HASH BROWN, BEANS, AVOCADO TOAST (VE) ADDED EGG (V)
One of Thieving Harry’s vegan (or veggie if you choose to add an egg as we did here) breakfast/brunch options are the Plant Breakfast. We chose to add a poached egg for an extra £1 on this occasion, but this dish can be made vegan without the egg. This is a great meat free option, especially with the flavoursome plant patty. The plant patty is bursting full of flavour. It is absolutely not a bland plant-based alternative to the usual sausage meat option.
Poached Eggs, Streaky Bacon, Minted Peas & Feta
SERVED ON SOURDOUGH TOAST
A personal favourite, Poached Eggs on toast with a Harry’s twist. The minted peas and feta really give this dish a unique spin to the brunch classic. Bringing in the strong flavours of mint and feta, but not taking away from the delicious poached egg on sourdough. Or of course, the streaky-yet-crispy bacon. The combination of flavours here brings a real excitement to brunch.
Thieving Harry’s is without a doubt one of the best options out there in the independent Hull food scene.
