Established in 2007, Record Store Day (RSD) is held every April to celebrate thousands of incredible independent record stores across the globe by releasing hundreds of exclusive titles on vinyl. During the last year it has been more important than ever to support these stores so that when we see the other side of this gig less nightmare, we have a place to share intimate concerts with our favourite artists and buy great records. It’s a chance for fans, artists, and record stores to come together and celebrate the beauty of independents and grab some lovely bits of wax. Unfortunately, with the pandemic, RSD has to be done slightly differently but you can still harness the magic of the event.

In 2020, it was due to take place on 18th April and 20th June but both drops were cancelled due to the pandemic and instead replaced with three separate drops on 29th August, 26th September, and 24th October. In lieu of the 20th June event, RSD announced ‘Love Record Store Day’ where they partnered with over 130 independent record stores across the UK & Europe to sell limited-edition releases, from artists including Radiohead, via their online stores.

In 2021, RSD has still decided on two separate drops held on 12th June and 17th July. Additionally, there will be Love Record Stores Day (4th Sept), National Album Day (16th Oct), and a special Black Friday RSD (26th Nov). You’ll be able to attend over 250 UK record shops in person and thousands more worldwide and, if you don’t feel comfortable attending the event in person, all remaining RSD titles will be available via the partaking record shops’ websites after both drops at 6pm on 12th June and 8pm on 23rd July. So there is no risk of missing out.
